I am an educator by day, and figure painter by night. I enjoy spending my time bike riding, visiting local museums and galleries, and spending time with my family.
Statement
Jessica uses a playful color pallet and expressive gestures to tell the stories of her subjects, who are often friends and family. As an arts educator, Jessica teaches youth multidisciplinary practices of fine arts to empower the next generation with creative self expression.
Biography
Born 1994 in Santa Clarita, CA, Jessica Nascimento is a San Francisco based self-taught painter and Arts Educator with a focus on figurative painting and portraiture in watercolor and oil. Jessica joined her first life drawing workshop at 19. With no prior training she has learned how to form the human figure through self exploration and diligent practice. Jessica has recently started working in oil, after taking an oil painting workshop while staying in Paris during the month of June 2022. Jessica often spends time in The de Young, Legion of Honor, and SF MOMA to study the works of the masters and their different approaches of building the human figure.
